ACTIVE RJs
RJ Priyanka from the LGBT Community (Transgender) is actively involved in the day to day station management.
She plans the weekly programs in consultation with other staff and community members. In addition, she hosts a special show- “Yari varu”, on issues faced by the LGBT community like sexual harassment, unemployment, lack of housing, etc.
She coordinates capacity building workshops in radio production and feedback collection.
Presently she mentors the women group at Srirampura Community – in program production and livelihood development opportunities.

He hosts a live radio program called Mukha Mukhi- Face Off made by general public, on issues ranging from power cuts, water shortage, garbage issues, street dog management, Transport or general civic and social issues.
Auto Shiv Kumar, moderates the discussion between general public and concerned authorities, with the aim of finding solutions to common problems faced by the community members.

Ms. Vimala Bai is a resident of Dayananda Nagar and is currently working at Radio Active as a Program Executive and RJ focusing on issues related to HIV and AIDS. Prior to Radio Active she was working as a Garment Industry worker and later enrolled into Arunodaya an NGO.

RJ Divya is studying 1st PU and in her free time she engages her community in making programs and addressing several issues. She even takes care of editing and teaches other community people. |

RJ Shivani is pursuing 2nd PUC in Arts (Correspondence) at Government College Srirampura and also attends computer classes every day evening. She has the work experience of 4 years and 6 months at Suraksha and Samara as M&E officer (Monitoring and Evolution).She recorders programs on Community Development addressing issues like health, Sanitation, general Problems…etc from Dayananda Nagara. |

Padma Priya tryst with media began when she joined the PG Mass Communication Department of Jain University. Skeptical about radio she chose print media; however fate had different plans for her.
In October 2007, Radio Active was sanctioned the DST project titled Science for Women’s Health. As part of the project she did a Baseline Survey, worked with slum dwellers in program production.
From then on she pledged for the cause of community radio.

Vijaya was a typical babe in the woods when she joined Radio Active in 2009. She worked at Nammi Dhwani before she decided to move to explore life in the city. Shy, and unsure, Vijaya soon found her way when she volunteered to teach the kids of the construction workers in the day time and work with the women in the evenings in making radio programs for Radio Active. The project Building Blocks paved the way for Vijaya to metamorphose and she now plays a lead role in program coordination and community mobilization. |

Surendra began working with Vijaya Mahila Samja- an NGO working with People Living with HIV/AIDS and sex-workers in 2008. Disappointed and frustrated with the attitude of the society to people with HIV/AIDS he quit his job and began exploring options in the media.
A Capacity Building workshop conducted by Radio Active opened doors and he joined the station and now coordinates activities with various NGOs working on HIV/AIDs issues and Sex Workers to address issues on Stigma and Discrimination.
He has now forayed into working with waste-pickers and helps with waste picker registration in the city |

Ms. Sujatha who resides at JC road slum has completed her education till 7th standard and used to work as a domestic worker after her education. A chance with encounter with an NGO MSS who works on empowering waste pickers and domestic workers led her to work as a sorter in a recycling center. As part of our solid waste management project we have enrolled Ms. Sujatha as a resource recovery champion

A street child who has survived the city life of Bangalore by waste picking his entire life, working with various NGO's like Waste Wise Trust, BBMP on waste management is now managing a dry waste storage center at HSR layout.

BACK-END OPERATIONS

Ramya K an alumnus of Jain University, began her career at the launch of the station in 2007. A shy person, who always had a way with designs, found her voice with Radio Active. From then on, she hasn’t looked back and is now managing the day-to-day operations of the station. An excellent graphic designer, Ramya nurses the passion of training women in business skills

A farmer, a foodie, an animal lover, Marwan quit his job in the corporate sector to explore options in community service.
Having worked in a village, he brings in rich experience in implementation of community projects.
At the station, he has helped co-founded three major projects- Stray Pals- A project on Street Dog Management & Welfare in Bangalore ; Waste Management Initiatives’ – which led to being a member at the Solid waste Management Roundtable and the conceptualization of the Recyclathon Awards
He was deputed by the Ministry of Science and Technology and CEMCA, an inter-governmental organization to conduct Baseline and capacity building workshop at VIIT, Baramati Pune

Pinky has over 13 years of experience spanning careers- international education, research, training & development and community services. Passionate, Analytical and Committed, Pinky believes that is important to expand your horizons by experimenting, constant research and setting internal standards accordingly.
At IDP Education Australia, she was able to work across the verticals which included counseling, customer service, day-to day operations, marketing & branding, training, event management and market research.
With Radio Station, she provides strategic direction and mentors the team. An ardent believer in community and development work, she has co-founded initiatives within the Radio station - Stray Pals- A project on Street Dog Management & Welfare in Bangalore ; Waste Management Initiatives’ – which led to being a member at the Solid waste Management Roundtable and the conceptualization of the Recyclathon Awards .
A strong advocate for diversity, she enjoys working with different groups in the society. An animal lover she makes it a point to devote time to look after street dogs in the city along with working on waste management issues.
